Carpal Tunnel Treatment:

Carpal tunnel treatment can lead to a quicker recovery to Carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel treatment can be done in many ways. Mainly the Carpal tunnel treatment methods are divided into Conservative methods of Carpal tunnel treatment and surgical methods of Carpal tunnel treatment.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused due to the pinched or inflamed median nerve. Median nerve passes through the carpal tunnel. Sustained repetitive activities like typing, hammering, or pushing cause the pinching of the median nerve.

Carpal tunnel syndrome can also be caused due to injuries like the broken wrist, dislocated hand, fractures etc. The symptoms of the Carpal tunnel syndrome are pain, numbness, a tingling sensation, and loss of grip strength.

The wrist splints or brace also work for some people, which are worn at nights or during sports, which helps to keep the wrist from bending. The splint is used for several weeks or months depending on the severity of the problem.

Initially the carpal tunnel treatment can be done using the Conservative methods. Conservative carpal tunnel treatment methods works best in men of age under 40 and least well in young women group. Some of the conservative Carpal tunnel treatment methods are Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, Physical Therapy, Laser Light Therapy and Ultrasound.

In the Initial Stages of the Carpal tunnel treatment can be done using NSAIDs. In this method of carpal tunnel treatment the doctor directly injects the NSAIDs into the effected part to reduce the swelling. This is important to note regarding this Carpal tunnel treatment method is that these NSAIDs have many side effects.

Carpal tunnel treatment can also be done using the using the Physical therapy. This method of Carpal tunnel treatment has shown good results. If symptoms are less active, then the patient may go for the supervised hand and wrist strengthening exercise program, which is usually offered by physical or occupational therapists.

Carpal tunnel syndrome treatment can also be done using Ultrasound. This method is considered to be the safe procedure in which the wrist is bombarded with sound waves. Laser Light Therapy is another type of conservative Carpal tunnel treatment method in which the low-energy laser light that penetrates, but does not cut the skin and stimulates cells activity in the injured areas.

These Conservative methods of Carpal tunnel treatment can be done only in the early stages of Carpal tunnel syndrome. But when the carpal tunnel syndrome is in the advance stage or the pain is severe, it is better to go for surgical methods of Carpal tunnel treatment.

Surgically the Carpal tunnel treatment is done using Open Release surgery, Mini open release surgery, Endoscopy and the Percutaneous Balloon Carpal tunnel plastry.

In the Open release surgery of carpal tunnel treatment method, the doctor make a 2 inches incision in the palm and cuts the carpal ligament free from the underlying median nerve by which the ligament is literally released and therefore the pressure on the median nerve is relieved. Same method is also used in the Mini open release carpal tunnel treatment method, but in this method incision made to the palm is of inch and a half.

Another surgical method of Carpal tunnel treatment is the Endoscopy. In this method of Carpal tunnel treatment the doctors need only a small incision at the wrist, which is a single-portal technique or a small incision at the wrist and palm, which is a two-portal technique.

Percutaneous Balloon Carpal tunnel plastry method of Carpal tunnel syndrome treatment is very effective and releases the pressure without any postoperative complications and most of them were back to work within a period of two weeks. This method is still in experimental stages.

In this method of carpal tunnel treatment, the doctor inserts a balloon through a 1/4-inch incision in the base of the palm, through a catheter under the ligament, and after that he inflates the balloon using saline solution to stretch the ligament and by this he makes the median nerve free of pressure.
