Standing Desks – Are They For You?

In the dim and distant past, a lot of work that man did was on his feet; however the opposite is true now.
Most if not all of us have jobs that require us to sit and work; which as we know can cause us a lot of problems.
Our posture[good posture], circulation, and metabolism for that matter, can all suffer for this reason perhaps, the standing desk concept was invented.
A standing desk is one that requires you to stand while working and is designed that way. Each of the work surfaces including the level of the monitor is higher.
A standing desk does not mean that you have to be standing all the time because they have room for placing a stool or similar item for when one is feeling tired of standing and needs a rest. A standing desk may make sense if one wants to:
- Improve your posture. You are not going to be able to slouch or lean forward or back too much etc when you are standing and you will require a better posture.
- Lose weight. You expend more energy while standing than you would while sitting. Your metabolism therefore is more active when you are standing when compared to a seated position.

Interesting concept… as interested as I am in good ergonomic design, I don’t know if I would be able to get on with this. Has anyone had any experience of using one of these?
