Office Ergonomics to Decrease the Aches of Work

Office ergonomics means designing the work environment to match your needs and to avoid awkward working postures.
Aches and pains can develop into injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injuries if you don’t follow office ergonomics.
Minimize the risk of injuries by applying office ergonomics at your desk.
The work environment should be properly adjusted which can help you achieve the goal of spending most of the time at work in relaxed position which is also known as neutral body posture. [Ergonomic Seating]
The fundamental workstation component is the chair [Ergonomic Chair]. The seat height, back height, back tilt, and seat tilt should be adjustable.
The feet should rest on the floor or foot rest, the lower back should be supported, the elbows should be close to the body, and thighs and forearms should be parallel to the floor.
The height of the desk should be adjustable such that the wrists should be flat not extended up or down. Use keyboard tray, if the desk is not adjustable. The desk should be wider to allow you to sit at a distance to the computer monitor.
The monitor should be placed an arm’s length from your body, so that the eyes will not strain to look up at the screen if the monitor is placed close to your eyes.
Apart from the workstation, you should take breaks for every one hour. Do some stretching exercises for five minutes in the break time. In this way, the body’s circulation will improve.
