Need For Visual Ergonomics At Workplace

While being in a well–furnished office in a posh building, you are sure to be eluded with a superiority complex.
Life seems fine at the outset and your own table in the middle with a bright new CRT or LCD (steadily growing in use) ennobles you.
You sit to work, switch it on, and suddenly get one with the realization that you will have to work in uncomfortable lights one more day. It spoils the atmosphere.
The basic requirement for anybody who is dishing out hours in front of his PC and working at break-neck speed is a screen, which is light on his eyes.
The brightness is quite awkward if not right and if the lights from outside also choose to fall on the monitor, the condition worsens and you become very much prone to getting headaches and a slight itch in the eyes.
After all, we are not naturally designed to stare at bright things for longer periods; be it the Sun, be it the color televisions, be it the LCDs and CRTs.
The LCDs, a more modern invention are a greater cause of eyesore as its peculiar structuring out of liquid crystals refract light on a very uneasy pace and makes us feel as if we are taking a look at the rainbow from pretty close. Just imagine the scene if that would really happen!
We have five sense organs and that the most important of them are the eyes is a unanimous opinion. The reason is pretty obvious: We see through them. Ask a blind man how the world feels like and you would only get depressive answers.
So it is but apt if we take great care of our pair of windows and keep its glasses clean. The very thought of providing glorious discomfort to the eyes is a feeling we can do without.
The trick is to avoid torture to our eyes, that too at the workplace.
- You must keep the brightness reduced and set, more so if working on an LCD.
- You must keep anti-radiation covers on the screen to keep your eyes cool.
- You must also use good glares to keep away the evil effects of light emanating from the screen.
- External lights must be stopped from reflecting on the screens, or else the effect on the eyes is pretty bad.
- The fluorescence of the screen has to be collected and kept to a bare minimum.
- The office lighting should give out total spectrum.
- The resolutions should be such that give the eyes minimum disturbance. There are certain PCs now being designed to be easy on the eyes. Even if at a price, encourage your office to go for them.
- Keep the fonts and sizes pretty big at least while working, even if you change the alignment while sending.
The conclusion is to ensure that the body is kept away from any ailments. And taking stock care of eyes is a foremost concern for anyone working in front of a PC. Work in comfort is a work in class.
