Top 3 Laptop Posture Tips For Pregnant Women

Being pregnant already puts a lot of strain on your back.

It is important to know the proper laptop posture to assume whether you are standing or sitting.

And, it is very important to assume a proper position when using your laptop computer.

The temptation to place your laptop on your pregnant belly should be avoided, as this position will cause you to round your back and hunch your shoulders.  This can lead to unnecessary back strain and back pain.

1. Position Your Laptop

The best place to use your laptop is at a desk.  The laptop should be placed at a desk that is not so high that your arms have to angle up to type, nor so low that you have to bend your neck down to see the monitor.

For proper laptop posture, your arms should be in level with your elbows at a ninety degree angle.  If you are further along in your pregnancy and your belly makes it difficult not to stretch out your arms, try and use an adjustable chair that can be lowered.  Even though this will cause your arms to angle up a bit, it is much better than stretching out your arms and straining your back.

2. The Proper Seat

Your chair should be firm and adjustable for proper laptop posture.  Try to avoid using a soft armchair or your couch as both can promote bad posture and back strain.  The chair should provide proper back support.  In addition, the chair should not be so tall that feet cannot be firmly placed on the floor.

In addition, your knees should be at a 90-degree angle.  If you do not have an adjustable chair at home, use a dining room or kitchen chair that is hard instead of a soft couch or arm chair.

3. Protecting Your Back

One of the biggest problems all pregnant women have is preventing back strain and back aches.  When using a laptop properly with the correct seating, back strain is minimized.

However, to further decrease the likelihood of back pain try rolling up a bath towel and placing it behind the small of your back.  This will provide lumbar support and help to prevent lower back pain.

The above tips will help to prevent or ease back pain when using a laptop.  In addition, make sure you take a break periodically from your laptop.  Get up and move around for 10-15 minutes.

Concentrate on some deep breathing exercises that will help to relax your back muscles.  And try to take some classes to strengthen your back such as Yoga or weight training.  Just be sure these activities have been cleared by your Obstetrician.

If I could write like this I would be well chuffed ;-)

The more I read articles of such quality as this (which is rare), the more I think there might be a future for the Web. Keep it up, as it were.
