Tips To Prevent Eye Strain Due To Digital Devices

eye strainWe are so connected these days and because of that we end up spending a significant amount of time each day staring at computer screens, and other digital devices such as cell phones, iPods, and goodness knows what else.

Needless to say this is ending up causing us eye strain. According to this report, there is even a name for this short term damage being caused by digital devices and it is known as Computer Vision Strain. For this, the Three B rule should be followed:

Blink. This lubricates eyes that have been staring unblinkingly at a computer screen or other digital device. It also spreads the moisture across the front of the eyes. Good lighting is important, and perhaps a pair of prescription glasses for computer use may be a good idea to ask your optician about.

Breathe normally. Since all your attention and energies are concentrated on the device before you, you may forget to breathe normally.

Breaks. Take frequent breaks. This is to give your eyes, your mind and your body a break. Sitting in one place is anyway bad for your blood circulation and in extreme cases is known to cause serious problems.
