As computers continue to dominant both the workplace and home, computer vision syndrome is becoming more common and much more serious.
On average, a person may spend up to 90% of their work day sitting at a computer not to mention personal time once they get home.
Thus, it should not come as a surprise that back, shoulder, and eye problems are becoming more common place.
Unfortunately, you cannot simply resolve to stay away from your computer due to the fact that computers are now such a large part of the modern world.
However, you can take a few small steps to ensure that you see less of these problems and they can be as simple as the way you position your monitor and keyboard.
First, you need to access what comfortable viewing distance is for you and then place your screen so that you can comfortably view it but without straining your eyes.
At the same time, you want to make sure that you are not sitting extremely close to the monitor if you can help it. Reading glasses may also help and there are now special computer glasses for those who need to work continuously online.
Second, you should make sure that you are sitting in a position where you can comfortably reach the keyboard without leaning forward or backward too much. A nice strong supported chair is also needed to protect your neck and back from excess strain.
Finally, make sure that your monitor is positioned at or below your eye level. The more you have to look up the more you dry out your eye which leads to eye strain. Looking down at your screen is always a better choice.
