Carrying out certain workplace exercises, is not as strange as it may sound, there are some that work well in an office environment.
For example when at your desk, move to the edge of your chair and keep your feet several feet apart and flat on the ground.
As you place your palms on the thighs straighten your back, then breathe in and out on the count of five. Repeat as many times as you like and get into the habit of doing this before you get up and as you sit down.
As you are waiting at the coffee machine clasp your hands behind your back then lift as high as you can go. Hold the position for half a minute or so then repeat until you’re at the front of the queue. Alternatively do arm stretches above your head straightening your elbows as much as you possibly can.
Chair twists are useful too. Try sitting sideways on your chair with your left side facing it. While keeping your feet and knees together twist your upper body towards the chair. Inhale as you straighten your back and exhale as you are performing the actual twist. Repeat and then swop sides.
