Neck Pain Treatment You Can Use Anytime, Anywhere

Neck pain is a common illness that afflicts many people around the world today.
It is caused by several factors, such as stress, bad posture, overexertion, emotional issues, spinal problems, injuries, whiplash, and various infections inside the body.
With 2/3 of the population suffering from neck pain or having experienced it at least one point in their lives, there are many forms of neck pain treatments available.
There are certain situations that can increase risk or aggravate your neck pain. These include frequent traveling on airplanes, lack of stretching, poor posture when sleeping or sitting, sudden increase in athletic activity, no warming up or stretching prior to engaging in activities or sports, and sitting down or standing during activities with your head down, such as cooking or writing.
Neck pain is curable, with many kinds of neck pain treatments you can use depending on its severity:
- Minor neck pain that occurs immediately after an injury is usually muscle spasms and aches. Neck pain treatment is easy and simple with the use of pain killers such as ibuprofen and aspirin. You can also apply cold compress to your neck for about 20 minutes to help provide more comfort.
- For minor neck pain, you can use various types of home care for neck pain treatment. This involves the use of a cold pack or massage directly on the lower back to reduce strain. Cold packs should be applied at least 15 minutes a day, several times throughout the day. The cold applied will be effective in decreasing the swelling of neck muscles as well as inflammation, and can significantly bring down the pain.
- Difficulties moving your neck without pain and consistent stiff necks are symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis or fibromyalgia. In this case, you can resort to neck pain treatment medicines such as painkillers but if the pain persists for more than a day, it’s best to see your doctor.
- If you are suffering from persistent neck pain that lasts for more than a week, you should see a physical therapist. More intensive neck pain treatment such as physical therapy will take a few sessions to effectively cure your neck pain. It is not recommended to do self-healing for chronic neck pain that lasts over a week.
- If sudden neck pain occurs, you should resort to first aid neck pain treatment, which is always applying ice to the area. This is the rule of thumb whenever pain occurs. Do not use hot compress as this will cause the muscles and tendons to expand, and may cause added friction and pain.

Although neck pain treatment is easy and accessible, you will want to sleep and sit in the proper posture, use the right pillows, and make sure you always stretch well before strenuous exercise to avoid pain again.
