Is It A Good Idea To Keep Moving While Using A Computer?

computer ergonomicsErgonomics is not something that everyone believes in there is an argument that says you should keep your body supple and train your brain to expect the unexpected.

In other words rather than keeping the body as straight as possible, while using your computer, an alternative theory says to keep it moving by changing your position on a regular basis.

This anti-ergonomic proposition believes that any position held for any length of time can cause damage and that is the mere fact of staying still, wherein the problem lies.

Ache and pains, stiffness and problems with the joints and muscles can equally be created by an ideal position if over worked.

A possible compromise could be that during anytime when you are not at your desk or workstation you perform regular pertinent exercise; back stretches and arm movements that counter the different positions that these joints and bones have been stuck in whilst working.

There are even different routines that you can do, almost unnoticed while you stop for a coffee or the mid morning snack. By making yourself change your body position and moving all the relevant working parts, this should then balance everything.

Once you have a balance then there should never be any problem and the likelihood of repetitive strain injury will be remote. Awareness is the key and also let your body guide you. Ultimately you do not want to end up stressed out with worry over your long term health in front of a computer monitor.
