Computer Cleaning Tips

There are many benefits to cleaning your workstation[Ergonomic Workstation] area: for one it is a pleasure to work in a clean and neat environment; secondly you can be sure that dust and other deposits don’t damage your computer or its data or cause it to malfunction, and thirdly, you can be sure that bacterial deposits do not cause the computer user to catch something nasty!
Unplug your keyboard, turn it upside down and shake it. Chances are you are surprised if not shocked at what comes out of the various nooks and crannies and crevices. So you have an idea of how much gunk can collect in just the keyboard!
As we have said before, the computer keyboard is very important to keep clean because of the kind of bacteria that can lurk there. So once you have physically shaken out the dust and the crumbs, use alcohol wipes to disinfect the keyboard.
Also use cue tips or ear buds to clean the more stubborn bits. You can use the vacuum cleaners suction and blower to further clean the keyboard. Do this regularly if you have a habit of or have to eat at the computer.
You need to clean the computer mouse for the same reasons as the keyboard, plus the fact that dirt deposits will affect its functioning and so the ball of the mouse or the optic device have to be kept clean. You can clean the mouse in much the same way as your keyboard, after unplugging it.
It is thought that 70% of hardware problems in your computer are caused by dust deposits; small amounts can cause loss of data and other malfunctioning due to overheating etc.
so it is important to keep the CPU clean. After unplugging the CPU, use a damp cloth to wipe the outside of the tower or cabinet clean.
The fans, air intake and exhaust areas at the rear of the computer can be cleaned using a computer vacuum if possible and for this to be done properly you may have to remove the cover.
Also don’t forget to clean the CD tray by ejecting it. Use an appropriate solution to clean the lens when required. Many come in an easy to use spray.
Also remember to clean the monitor; dirt and deposits can not only distort the visuals they can clog vents and cause the monitor to overheat. You can accomplish this in much the same way as the rest of the computer and having flat monitors make the job a lot easier.
