Better Computer Screens For Better Workers’ Health

computer screenThere have been a lot of horror stories put out about the effects that a computer screen can have on a person’s physical well being; everything from cancer, miscarriages and even, brain tumors.

It is an area that attracts controversy although so far research has shown this to be just misinformation.

As recently as the 1990s, articles appeared containing stories of the harmful effects of being nearby a computer.

Leaking radiation and the deadly power of strong magnetic fields were the order of the day. This all followed on from Californian studies claiming that pregnant women working in front of VDUs were much more likely to have a miscarriage than those that didn’t.

Certain individuals say that they created these alarm bells to push the larger manufacturers into doing more research and force them to take health considerations more seriously.

Any link between cancer and computers has always been tentative although scientists still have reservations about the side effects from electro-magnetic radiation.

There are certain obvious hazards involved with the use of computer technology such as eye strain, repetitive strain injury and other office type issues.

Good office furniture makes a big difference as does getting regular eye examinations. Take general measures that can make your office environment more comfortable and prevent minor ailments having a more permanent effect on your health.

If your employer is committed to the welfare of his loyal staff, he can even invest in better screens with a bigger and sharper display. We’ve come along way from computers that can kill.
