World’s Cheapest Laptop

 

According to this article, the cheapest laptop ever to have been made in the world has been developed in India; the world’s cheapest laptop costs just $35.

laptopThe Human Resources Minister of India, Mr. Kapil Sibal unveiled the low cost touch screen device, which according to the minister has been developed for students. The device is at the developmental stage and everything including the chip, processing, the motherboard, memory and the display will cost about $35.

It will include internet browsing capability, PDF reader and even video conferencing facilities and configurations will be flexible enough to make upgrades possible as well.

The minister is expecting this low cost item to be made available to higher education institutions by the year 2011, but is expecting the price to go down even further, perhaps as low as $20 and even down to $10 ultimately.

The world famous Indian Institute of Technology, one of the premier institutions of the country is said to have developed this device, which could well change the way that we buy and use laptops.
