I’m a 5′4″ female with a thumb to pinky finger span of about 8 piano keys. I spend a considerable amount of time on the computer both at home and at work. I would spend about 3 hours a night gaming and I work as a secretary during the day which requires a lot of time working on the computer. I was having major problems with both my wrists. I switched to a split curved keyboard design and that helped a little but I was still having problems; much more in my right wrist. I had been miss-diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel and given medications to help and told to wear a wrist thing; which did not help. Later I got a ganglaeon cyst in my wrist which grew to the size of three grapes. After my surgery I knew I HAD to find an ergonomic mouse. I had been trying different mice but with no avail. Then I found out about the joystick mice and the Evoluent mouse. Since I am a gamer I didn’t like the limitations of the joystick mouse so I decided to shell out aprox. $80.00 for the Evoluent VerticalMouse 3. It took some time to get used to but my pain eased drastically. This is a bigger mouse and if you use a keyboard tray (which is also part of proper ergonomics) you will want to make sure you have enough clearance as this mouse stands at about 4″ tall. I’ve been so pleased with this product but suggest that everyone does the research when looking for an ergonomic mouse. If you can get the right one for your amount of computer use and hand size you might find yourself a happier person. :)
