How to Use a Keyboard Tray:

This article was put together to help users properly set up and use their ergonomic keyboard tray. Adjustable keyboard trays can help customize a workstation, minimizing the negative affects of using your keyboard and mouse too high or too low. When choosing a new keyboard tray it is important that it has height and tilt adjustment, as well as a platform to use your mouse.

1. First you will want to center your body to the keyboard and mouse.

2. Next you will want to pull the keyboard tray so that it is close enough to reach the keys without awkward reaching. Having to reach for the keys can add stress to the neck, shoulders and back.

3. Then it is time to find a comfortable height for the keyboard tray. Make sure that your feet are flat on the floor, lower the keyboard tray so that it is just above your lap. Most ergonomists will recommend that your elbows be at a 90-110 degree angle while typing or using the mouse.

4. The last and final adjustment needed is the tilt adjustment. Most ergonomic keyboard trays will have the ability to be positioned with positive and negative tilt. It is important that your wrists maintain a nuetral position. Most users should keep their keyboard tray in a nuetral position (flat) or slightly negative. This will ensure that the wrists are not bent awkardly adding
